About OBA

“St. Mary's Tamil Maha Vidyalayam - Old Boys Association” is the main alumni association of St. Mary's Tamil Maha Vidyalayam.















The common objectives of the OBA are to Help their school development activities, and to
promote fellowship among membership.

The OBA is an accepted body in the School Management, and it carries out a dialogue with Principal and the School Management for improvement of studies, sports and other facilities.


Present Structure of OBA


Past students of St. Mary’s Maha Vidyalayam are entitled to become members of the OBA. According to the constitution, office bearers are elected annually by the membership. Term of office for the President is two years and for all the others one year.

The Executive Committee of the OBA consists of

· President
· Deputy President
· All Past Presidents
· Vice Presidents - 5 posts
· Joint Secretaries - 2 posts
· Assistant Secretaries - 2 posts
· Treasurer
· Assistant Treasurer
· Editor
· Executive Committee Members
· Age group
o Above 50 years - 10 posts
o 40 - 50 years - 15 posts
o 30 - 40 years - 20 posts
o Below 30 years - 10 posts
· Representatives from affiliated groups -1 member from each group
· Honorary Invitees - 10 posts

Ex-Co should meet at least once in two months and discuss policy matters and responsible for taking policy decisions.

In order to make the smooth functioning of the OBA, a Management Committee is appointed annually. Management Committee is responsible for taking decisions regarding day today affairs and the administration of the OBA and that meets once a month.

· Vice Presidents (5)
· Joint Secretaries (2)
· Treasurer

The Ex–Co functions as five (5) Standing Committees and constitution provides provisions for ex- co to appoint additional committees according to the needs of the association.

Standing Committees:
· Finance
· School Development
· Membership Welfare and Development
· Social Welfare and Public Relations
· Education and youth Affairs


For the current year a special committee has been appointed for school developments.
Non Ex–Co members may be appointed to Standing Committees by the Ex–Co and the maximum number of members in a standing committee is limited to 20 by the constitution.
